Freedivespearing came about due to the high demand of a Spearfishing specialist being desired for Freedive Training. There are many Freedive Instructors out there, but not many that are true Spearfishermen. On another note, there are a few Spearfishermen that are Freedive Instructors, but most are without any credentials or certification and/or Insurance. Since most students looking for a freedive certification agency are spearfishermen or have the desire to learn to spearfish, it was obvious for us to start Freedivespearing.com with our premier instructor, Brian Lee - Coach/Captain of the USA Spearfishing Team.

Brian began spearfishing in the early 90’s when he relocated to southern Florida from his home state of New Jersey. His enthusiasm for freediving and spearfishing grew as the years progressed. He stayed away from competitive spearfishing to pursue the pure sport of freediving and thoroughly enjoys the sport of spearfishing at a more personal level. He is currently employed with Freedivespearing as a certified FII Instructor and international Spearfishing Guide, as well as a sales rep for multiple freediving and spearfishing equipment manufacturers and Coach/Captain of the US Spearfishing Team. With this opportunity, he is well traveled in freediving and spearfishing in search of his favorite pelagic species around the globe. He also is a competitive cyclist and competes at the highest levels of the sport, achieving his goals of becoming a Florida State Champion Time Trialist in 2005. He brings his many years of training experience, commitment to excellence and knowledge of high levels of physical fitness and mental conditioning to his students.

Brian is also a Freediving instructor in the company of Martin Stepanek and Freediving Instructors International. He routinely trains with Martin in hopes of obtaining his personal goals in setting U.S. national records in the sport of freediving. Brian was Coach and Team Captain for the 2010 U.S. Worlds Spearfishing Team and began a strict training regimen with the entire team getting them prepared to compete in the deep diving conditions required in the 2010 World Championships in Mali Losonj, Croatia. He has finally begun working with the 2012 US Spearfishing Team preparing for the 2012 World Championships in VIGO, Spain, July 2012.

Our Spearfishing classes show proper use and handlling of spearguns and polespears emphasizing on safety. Brian Lee also teaches freediving classes and courses and offers one on one instruction with the students upon request.
